McCulloch of Ohio: For the Republic

This book tells a story of civic valor. That is, the willingness to place nation ahead of self and justice ahead of expediency. As readers will learn, its title character, longtime Ohio Congressman William M. McCulloch played a pivotal role in the passage of the major civil rights legislation of the 1960’s.

The larger story is not what he did, but why, and how. William McCulloch fought for justice and equality because it was in his nature to do so. The purpose of the fight, he said, was not to achieve victory but to create the reconciliation that civil society requires.

There will be winners for each of these contests.

Behind the scenes at the Eichelberger Center for Community Voices at WYSO

The Eichelberger Center for Community Voices is a place where stories are created, skills are traded and voices are heard. The center was born at Greater Dayton’s NPR-affiliate public radio station WYSO and has seen significant growth in the last year, starting with the appointment of former general manager Neenah Ellis as the center’s first executive director. Ellis, joined by fellow Rotarians Luke Dennis and Heather Martin, will catch you up on what’s happening out in Yellow Springs.

Changing Times “What’s on Your Mind about Rotary After this Pandemic

As we prepare for the new year, among the challenges we face is what the Dayton Rotary club meetings will look like. While there may be many factors beyond our control, we will devote a good portion of next Monday’s meeting to getting YOUR input.

Rotarians will break out into chat rooms, each with a facilitator and a recorder, and participate in what we hope will be a robust and substantive dialogue. Please plan to join us next Monday for this very important meeting.
